De 1e kennismaking was op Pinkpop 1991, ergens vroeg op de middag. Vanaf redelijke afstand, maar de interesse was gewekt. De Hip (ik mag ze de Hip noemen) is het perfecte voorbeeld van hoe een rockband in elkaar zou moeten zitten. Degelijke muzikanten die hun plek kennen en een zanger waar het woord charisma voor lijkt uitgevonden. Dit deuntje sloop door de jaren heen richting de top van fijnste Hipliedjes. Het verhaal, de tekst, de emotie, de beleving, geen idee, hij doet het elke x weer.
